Description
The N 900 Sherpa KSP Tracked Stairlift is suitable for non-ambulatory subjects who need to be moved to different floors within buildings that do not have other suitable equipment, such as elevators or fixed stairlifts. This device consists of a metal structure, manually driven by an attendant, which moves on rubber tracks, equipped with a rudder for "driving" with the attachment of the wheeled wheelchair.
■ Traction
The track traction system is driven by toothed pulleys mounted on ball bearings. The increased number of gripping teeth, the renewed design, the innovative track tensioning system have allowed a significant reduction in noise and vibrations while driving, friction and an increase in grip. The N 900 Sherpa KSP Tracked Stairlift consequently has extraordinary driving comfort and greater autonomy.
■ Transmission
Irreversible monobloc gearmotor with double conversion and high efficiency, achieves a reduction ratio of 1:37. In this way it is possible to use a traction motor of approximately 925 rpm, more efficient, which requires less torque and is therefore more reliable and long-lasting. The transmission organs of the N 900 Sherpa Tracked Stairlift are reduced to a minimum thanks to the transmission via monobloc gearmotor, to the advantage of the reliability and maintainability of the vehicle. The irreversibility by construction of the gearmotor guarantees the automatic blocking of the vehicle even in the event of faults. The torque on the slow shaft of the gearmotor takes on particular importance, a torque which in conditions of starting from a standstill, on maximum slope and with maximum load can reach particularly considerable values. The sizing of the system therefore plays a key role in ensuring its reliability and longevity. In this regard, the N 900 Sherpa Tracked Stairlift uses a slow shaft with a diameter of 20 mm and an electronic control unit for controlling the traction torque.
■ Rudder
The tiller is made from a double electro-welded oval-section tubular, treated with a chrome plating process. The structure is particularly compact without sacrificing the essential qualities of rigidity and robustness. Particular care has been taken in the system for attaching/detaching the handlebar to the frame, implementing an effective solution with opposite hooks that requires minimal effort from the operator and does not allow for possible errors. The system for adjusting the wheelchair anchoring points on the handlebar has also been studied with particular care. Adjustment is particularly easy and the locking system is safe and effective. The tiller houses the padded headrest that can be adjusted to three positions via screw anchoring. At the end of the tiller are the handlebars and the relative forward and reverse controls, the emergency button, the ignition jack and a multi-coloured LED indicating the "on" status of the machine and the battery charge status.
Particular care has been taken in the coupling/uncoupling system of the drawbar to the frame, implementing an effective solution that requires minimal effort from the operator and does not allow errors, thanks to the double mechanical/electronic safety system. The coupling system of the drawbar of the N 900 Sherpa KSP Tracked Stairlift is concealed to ensure total protection against accidental access even with the drawbar extracted. The adjustment system of the wheelchair anchoring points on the handlebar has been designed with particular care. The adjustment is easy thanks to the single locking pin that allows adjustment with just one hand and with minimal effort. To complete the whole thing there are the ergonomic knobs, the rationally arranged controls, easy to access and protected against accidental activation. In the lower part there are the support arms for the wheelchair wheels. At the end of the drawbar there is the handlebar with its travel controls:
Microprocessor electronic control unit for traction control, display of residual autonomy, control of the electric movement of the maneuver wheels and safety devices. The use of an electronic control unit for traction control allows smooth starts and stops, improves the efficiency of the vehicle and increases its reliability thanks to the reduction of stress on the mechanical parts. The absence of jerks, sudden starts and stops also guarantees an unparalleled ride comfort of the N 900 Sherpa KSP Tracked Stairlift. The battery charge status is continuously estimated and displayed via special LEDs located on the ignition panel. The control unit also manages the motor responsible for moving the maneuver wheels and all safety devices.
■ Frame
The N 900 Sherpa KSP Tracked Stairlift is equipped with an electro-welded steel frame that gives the structure rigidity and strength. The choice of components and their arrangement have allowed for an extremely low height, making it easier to fit various types of wheelchairs. The cataphoresis process protects and ensures longevity and hardness with particular resistance to scratches. Inside the machine body are the gear reducer, pulleys, tracks and all the electrical parts as well as the electronic board and batteries.
■ Security
The on-board electronics are responsible for the control and operation of the entire device, inhibiting its activation if the safety conditions are not present:
